Palmer Method

Established in 1897, the Palmer School of Chiropractic is the founding school of chiropractic training. It was at this center for chiropractic that the Palmer Method evolved from the origins of chiropractic training. Dr. D. D. Palmer was the founder of chiropractic, and his son B. J. Palmer developed the Palmer Method for conducting chiropractic adjustments. It is understandably one of the most prominent modalities in chiropractic even today. The method involves the top-most vertebrae of the spine, also known as the atlas, which is adjusted using digital x-ray imagery. This offers you a comprehensive adjustment using the most modern diagnostic techniques.

Activator Methods

Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique (AMCT), developed in the late 1960's, uses a low-force, high-speed adjusting instrument to realign the joints of the spine and extremities. Evolved from more than 35 years of empirical study and more than 15 years of clinical research, AMCT has become the most widely used technique worldwide. Its remarkable ability to correct the body and the overwhelming patient satisfaction that encompasses it are true testaments to its superiority in the field of chiropractic care.

The Activator adjustment begins with the Prone Leg Check (PLC). While lying on your chest, your legs are checked for an inequality or difference in lengths. A leg length inequality (LLI) exists in 80-90% of our patients and serves as an indicator of structural imbalances. Through this leg check, it is possible to locate and correct the specific misalignments or subluxations that exist anywhere in your body. The benefits of this treatment include precise measurements and adjustments, complete corrections, longer holding power, ease of adjustments, no fear factor, and better patient compliance.

Chiropractors are trained and tested at AMCT seminars throughout the world. These doctors can earn Basic or Advanced Proficiency Rated status. Over 35,000 doctors of chiropractic have been trained in AMCT and 2,100 of them are Proficiency Rated. When seeking out an Activator treatment, the best and most thorough adjustments will be delivered by an Advanced Proficiency Rated chiropractor.

The art, science, and philosophy of chiropractic began with its inception in 1895. Many adjusting techniques have been developed in the 100+ years of its existence. Most of the older methods use the doctor's hands as the instrument to achieve the desired movement of the joints. This results in a high-force, low-speed adjustment. At times, this can be painful and intimidating, causing patients to discontinue treatment.

Fortunately, the low-force, high-speed adjustment has become a mainstay in chiropractic care today. This form of treatment enjoys the same benefits as the older techniques. Yes, the joints do move, just with less the force and a greater patient comfort level. There are many of these low-force techniques, yet AMCT is considered the premiere adjustment. This is because there is more scientific research done by and supporting AMCT than there is in any other chiropractic technique since 1895.

AMCT provides the doctor with a step-by-step procedure that will lead to technical certainty and will produce consistent results.

Chiropractic Care

We provide advanced spinal correction and chiropractic adjustments utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic care have chiropractors been able to provide the level of help and expertise that is available today. Many of the newest chiropractic techniques are actually safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As a chiropractor who cares about utilizing the most advanced chiropractic techniques, Dr. Eric Williams has years of training, expertise and experience in helping patients get pain relief for back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other related conditions originating from the spine. Chiropractic care under a trained professional can even be used to prevent injuries and help you achieve total health or wellness.

Corrective Exercises

At Williams Chiropractic Center, we teach our patients how to perform special "blueprint" exercises which can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in their body which may be causing pain. Many of these corrective exercises can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan. In addition to skeletal misalignment, you may be experiencing pain that is caused by muscles and connective tissues which are out of their proper place. Other types of pain such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches are caused by muscles and tissues that are being used improperly, causing injuries over time. In each case, targeted corrective exercises and stretches from our experienced chiropractor will help you feel good while also helping your body achieve balance and health.

Lifestyle Advice

Many of our patients come to see our chiropractor to address a specific pain symptom such as back pain, neck pain or headaches. While our chiropractor will address each patient's specific condition with chiropractic care, we often find it helpful to "coach" our patients towards achieving a healthier lifestyle. For example, there may be certain activities that you should avoid or do differently to prevent yourself from unintentionally aggravating your particular health challenges. The goal of including lifestyle advice with a chiropractic care plan is to help each and every patient achieve the fulfilling and happy lifestyle they deserve, one that is full of the activities that are enjoyed most. We recognize that every single one of our patients is a whole person, and we use our expertise to help them reach total health and wellness.

Nutritional Counseling

What does nutrition have to do with chiropractic care? The goal of chiropractic care is to help patients achieve total health and balance with their body, and as part of that goal we provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices. Nutritional counseling by our experienced chiropractic health professionals can assist a patient on their return to optimal health. Do you know which supplements and vitamins are good for you? Do you know how these supplements and vitamins interact with one another? At our Lisle chiropractic clinic, we can provide each patient with a structured nutritional program that is based on their individual needs.

Spinal & Postural Screenings

There is a saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Your spinal health is no exception. Posture and spinal screenings by a trained and experienced chiropractor such as Dr. Eric Williams can help reveal important health information, unlocking the door to improved health and well-being. In order to help the Lisle community, we provide screenings at area malls, community events, health fairs and places of employment.
