Heart Health

February is the month of “love” and “hearts”.  We celebrate Valentine’s Day and we also know February as the month of the American Heart Association, Heart Health month.  Every where we turn we see HEARTS:  we’ll see commercials about Valentine’s day and campaigns on TV to wear red to symbolize heart health for women, or you may see service announcements about what we can do to have a healthy heart.

Let’s pose this question to you:  Do LOVE and HEART HEALTH go hand in hand?  HECK YES!  You have to LOVE yourself and make YOURSELF and YOUR HEALTH (and heart) a PRIORITY!

What does the NIH (National Institutes of Health) say about heart health and your “healthiest self”?  “Each person’s “healthiest self” is different.  We have different bodies, minds, living situations, and people influencing our lives.  Each area can impact your overall health.  This means we each have a unique set of health needs.” - per nih.gov

Heart health is about your surroundings, your feelings, your body, your relationships, and even your disease defense.  This month we will help you by providing suggestions for each of the area’s on our social media.  So be certain you are following us.  Follow along and find out things that you can implement in YOUR life to improve your heart health.  It’s a personal choice!

We will discuss things like:  getting active, build/maintaining your muscle, find a healthy weight, reduce stress, get quality sleep, be mindful, create a healthy home, guard against cold weather, clear out toxins in your home, make connections, take care of yourself while caring for others, shape your family’s health habits, guard against germs, and get screened for diseases/protect your body’s bacteria via our social media this month.

Each of these items is just ONE small change you can do to help improve YOUR heart health.  Don’t think you have to make ALL of these changes, but make the change(s) or implement the suggestion that is BEST for you.  You know your body best.

Unclear as to what to do?  When you come in for your next visit with Doc, ask him for his suggestions/recommendations.  Another great way to learn more is to follow us on social media, just click the appropriate social media icon above and join us to learn more!
